Exams and evaluations will progressively test learners’ skills, representing the adult learning journey across these three developmental stages:

The SketchUp skills index organizes proficiency with SketchUp into five distinct skill categories:

For more information, see the full SketchUp Training Standards and Outcomes .

There are three exams, each testing those skill categories and representing a specific level of knowledge:

  • Exam 1: SketchUp Certified Basic User – The Basic User exam focuses on the learners ability to recall basic tool functions and concepts. The learner will show they understand the most common tools and foundational modeling methods. This includes awareness of intermediate workflows and other SketchUp products like 3D Warehouse and LayOut.

  • Exam 2: SketchUp Certified Intermediate User – The Intermediate User exam focuses less on memorization and more on workflow analysis, advanced functionality, and the advanced tool workflows. This exam mixes knowledge-based questions and simulations.

  • Exam 3: SketchUp Certified Advanced or Industry User – The Advanced User exam assesses the learners ability to use all of SketchUp’s tools and resources to produce complex technical designs. This exam mixes knowledge-based questions and independent work.
